| BURMESE CATS Burmese cats have existed in the mainland of Southeast Asia for over 1,000 years. Historically, they were kept by royal families and used as guardians of the many temples in Burma, now officially called Myanmar. In type and appearance, they resemble other Oriental cats, such as the Siamese, except in color and temperament. After extensive sourcing and careful selection, CERS chose a few pedigree Burmese cats from the U. K. and Australia as breeding stock. These Burmese then traveled to Asia and spent an interim year in Hong Kong at CERS facilities before being 'repatriated' to Myanmar successfully on 1 August 2008. |
