SAVE ARRIVAL OF FIVE TRACKED CRANES IN WESTERN SICHUAN

Five Black-necked Cranes captured during the last two winters are now carrying satellite tracking devices. They all arrived safely at the summer nesting ground in western Sichuan Tibetan region bordering Baiyu and Xinlong Counties crossing over 1000m elevation gradient. The shortest route was 170km and the crane spent one day to fly. The longest route was 600 km and the crane need about 20 days to fly to the breeding site.
